Who We Are

Aabita is a group dedicated to helping protect artists and fan artists from character and art theft. Whether it's something as simple as a person using a blank without permission or complete character theft, Aabita was formed to help resolve these issues in a polite and mature fashion.

Why We Exist

One of the main reasons for the formation of Aabita was in response to a number of hostile comments and emails that have been sent out by zealous art thief pursuers. While the sentiment is understood, flames and harassment simply make things worse in the long run, especially when someone who is stealing art doesn't know that what they're doing is wrong. There are also people that simply don't know what to do to resolve this issue or simply are afraid of confronting the thief. While Aabita is run and supported by our community members who find and investigate a lot of suspected theft, non-members are always welcome to file a claim and we as a community will be happy to help you resolve your issue.

To Our Visitors

Aabita is dedicated to resolving art theft issues as nicely as possible. However, we're not saints. If you get an email/comment from us that you think is unwarranted, we'll listen. We do have a petition form you can fill out, and we do promise to look it over. However, you must be prepared to back up your claim.

If you have a problem with another member either harassing or flaming you, please report them. You'll be asked to forward any harassing emails or links to any harassing comments. Proven art thieves will still be asked to credit/take down any stolen art, but harassment is NOT what we're here to do, and people doing the harassing will be dealt with.

You may also fill out a form and report character and art theft without becoming a member. Yes, we'd like you to join, but it's not a requirement. You shouldn't feel obligated to join simply because someone stole art from you.

Leadership and Members

Leadership of Aabita is shared by a small staff of Officers who are dedicated to helping members and guests alike. The main Officer (Dubird) and the fellow second Officers ( ) work together to moderate the forums and the members. They also serve as a final 'appeal' in all matters, though this will hopefully not be needed. Arbiters are 'middle-management'. They help the Officers keep the forums tidy, as well as receive claims from non-members. Regular members are those in the forums that participate in keeping an eye out for theft as well as supporting the Arbiters and Officers as a group.

Of course, no one is perfect. Tempers flare, and we will all probably lose our tempers, though hopefully not with this group. (After all, there's a nifty forum just for ranting about stuff here!) Minor infractions will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. However, serious infractions will be dealt with as outlined below. Officers are the only ones with this authority, however if you suspect an Officer is abusing his/her authority, you can report it and it will be looked into.
Strike One: Official Warning. This will go on a record in the private admin forum for one year. No one but Officers will see this or know about it unless you choose to tell someone. After a year, if nothing else has happened, your name will be taken off the list and you'll start over again.
Strike Two: Second Warning. The date on the record is updated for a year from this warning, and your forum privileges will be revoked for the period of at least a week. Depending on the severity of the issue, it may be for longer.
Strike Three: Removal from the group. Your name will be removed from the member list and you will be banned from the forum.

Member Conduct

Aabita is dedicated to helping resolve theft issues politely and maturely. This behavior should be carried over into all aspects of this group, including posting in the forums. Please also remember that anything you do in our name, reflects on the group as a whole. This includes any emails and/or comments you send.
